Heidi ShenkMiddle School Music
Heidi ShenkWhen I think middle school I think 90s grunge scene. Sound familiar to any of you? My sister and I were all about the flannel, combat boots, and baggy corduroy pants or jeans with holes in the knees. We were both into the scene and my sister was pretty much obsessed with Eddie Vedder. So embarrassing in fact, that I won't post a photo of myself this time around. People like to see cute pictures of you from when you're in second grade, and they sure like to see photos of you in the awkward grunge middle school phase too-- for different reasons of course.
I also had a need to listen to classic rock bands such as Aerosmith, The Doors, Pink Floyd, Queen, David Bowie, and The Who. And if you didn't like the classic rockers I told you that your music sucked. I think I may have had a bit of a Queen obsession (ok, I had a TOTAL Queen obsession and my vintage burgandy Doc Martins were my favorite shoes because they were the color of Brian May's guitar). David Bowie was a pretty awesome dude too. He was super androgynous-- hmmm sounds kinda familiar just like some of my own students that are obsessed with the super androgynous stars of today.
Yes. The hair and make-up look oddly familiar. How unoriginal Adam.
I also loved making mix tapes and I'd often make them for my friends with little liner notes that I wrote for each song. This is what one of those mix tapes probably would have sounded like.
High Fashion Houndstooth Inspiration

Heidi ShenkYou all know by now that I have a love for shoes, and I seriously would be a happy woman if I could add these to my collection. I love something a bit crazy and these definitely would do the trick! The sticker price on these? $951.00!
So I decided to get a little bit of houndstooth into my life without the sticker shock.
I think these do the trick for now, but I'll be spending the rest of the morning surfing the web for a pair of houndstooth pumps that are about a tenth of the cost of the Ferragamo pumps. I'll let you know if I find them. :)

Heidi ShenkNote card set, greeting cards, postcards galore! And this doesn't even include the new stationery paper sets that I've made as well! I am waiting on my boxes for those (they're supposed to arrive today) so I've held off on taking photos and revealing to you their awesomeness until then! :)
Design a Day Challenge: Day 31 & 32

Heidi ShenkFollow that up with Saturday spent in 102 degree (114 degree heat index) weather at a stone and masonry store trying to pick out pavers for our back yard. Andrew decided it was a good idea to keep going back and forth from one section to the next in the blazing sun for about an hour and a half-- of course at the hottest time of day at that! After our masonry adventures, in which I inevitably picked out the most expensive thing, we had planned to go order new dining room chairs. So we had to take our sweaty selves to a super classy furniture store in which the woman helping us proceeded to tell us that she was recently married. In addition, her new husband had just given her a blank check for furniture for their 3rd home (5,400 sq ft of it) in which she spent $20,000. AND that was the third blank check he had given her. Meanwhile, I had sweated my butt off at the stone store and looked a hot, sunburned mess-- she probably thought I was far from classy enough to be purchasing dining room chairs from her.
Needless to say, after all of that, I was done and didn't really feel like sitting near a heat generating computer to upload these fabulous designs:
Two totally different styles of designs, but I love them both! Hopefully that was worth having to read through my furniture lady story! Happy lazy Sunday everyone!
